Brands on the Street:

I try to stay away from large brands and I go through clothes a lot so I prefer cheaper clothing generally.

  • DSW shoes
  • LG phone

Why these brands?

I work with kids and go through lots of pairs of shoes so I like to buy cheaper shoes at DSW. I like cheap over quality. The LG is a cheaper phone, I also break phones a lot! I had a Samsung Galaxy something before this…for me it is really just about what is convenient.

Are you aware of any “shared value” imparted by these brands?

No, but I did buy this pair of Sandles off of Amazon called Sanuk. They are not like Tom’s shoes but I think they make sandals out of….roots or something? They are more ecological/environmentally safe.

Would you switch to a brand that was just as good but that offered more shared value?

Well, I bought the Sanuks because they were recommended. They are, like, made from yoga mat materials. They are really comfortable and when I was reading reviews about the sandals I found out they don’t like to use things like plastic and things like that. That has some influence. All things being equal I opt in for a more sustainable product.

Aside from purchasing decisions, is there any way you personally try to do good in the world?

I donate left ver good. I try to hand it out. You know, we waste a lot!
